Bring Your Voice to the Table - ACCA Seeks New Board Members

Alberta’s co-operatives are building the future—resilient local economies, community-owned businesses, and democratic workplaces rooted in shared success. At the Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA), we work every day to support that vision—and now, we’re looking for new board members to help guide what comes next.

If you’re passionate about co-ops, collaborative leadership, and building something that matters, we invite you to consider joining ACCA’s Board of Directors.

Why Join?

ACCA is the province’s central hub for co-operative development, advocacy, and connection. Our board plays a vital role in:

  • Setting strategic direction

  • Guiding our work to support co-ops across Alberta

  • Championing collaboration between sectors, regions, and generations

Whether you come from a large credit union or a small worker co-op, are rural or urban, long-established or just getting started—we believe your experience has something to offer.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who bring:

  • An understanding of the co-operative system

  • Strong communication skills with multiple stakeholders

  • Familiarity with governance practices and board oversight

  • The ability to interpret financial reports and connect them to strategic goals

  • A commitment to fully participate in board activities and champion the success of ACCA

Time Commitment

Serving on the ACCA Board requires:

  • Attending four full-day board meetings per year

  • Participating in a board planning session and the Annual General Meeting

  • Supporting a few association events (approximately 4 days per year)

  • Joining occasional committee meetings (typically by conference call)

  • Attending other meetings called by the Board Chair (minimal)

What’s Next - Deadline to Submit is May 16

Joining the ACCA board is a meaningful opportunity to connect with leaders across the province and shape the direction of Alberta’s co-operative movement. If you're curious, we invite you to explore our current Strategic Plan to see where we’re headed.

If it resonates, take two minutes to introduce yourself through our Board Interest Form. We’re not asking for a resume—just a few quick questions to get to know you:

  • Your name and organization

  • Years of board or leadership experience

  • What excites you about contributing to the co-operative sector

Whether you're a seasoned co-op leader or someone who’s eager to get more involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can build what comes next.
